Since the game is a proper sequel to Killzone 2, Killzone 3 picks up right from where Killzone 2 ended. The protagonist Sev is a Special Forces person who is fighting as a part of the interplanetary alliances against the evil Helghast Empire. The game is continuing after Sev has been successful in his mission.
Killzone 2 ended with Sev defeating Radec and also Rico. He had already killed Visari, the Helghast dictator who has deserted them before a fleet of ships destroying the ISA vessels. Since, their dictator is dead, the Helghast Empire is in a sort of internal struggle. At this point of time Sev and his mate Rico are left to struggle and find a way out where the ISA regroups their forces.
As Sev and his friend Rico strives for existence without any reinforcement, the Helghast people try to sort their mutual clashes. Killzone 3 will also showcase the Helghan culture and highlight whatever humanity they have left in them. This game will also have a light approach compared to the previous version which the makers felt had a dark and serious story.
The game makers of Killzone 3 have mentioned though that since the game is finally about a war, so the storyline would not be completely light-weighted. The Guerilla game makers have hired a special writer to focus particularly on the storyline to give it an extra edge and fresh perspective.
Hollywood actors have also been involved to elevate storytelling through dialogues. Guerilla games have also promised that the game Killzone 3 will be far more attractive in terms of storyline and dialogues compared to the previous part. The trailer also introduces characters Jammer, a member of ISA. Possible successor to Visari's throne could be the newly introduced members Jorhan and Orlock.
