Harry Potter's Natalia Tena has two reasons to celebrate. Her film HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS Part 1 broke box office records with a $330.1 million worldwide take opening weekend and her band's first single released the same week.
Natalia Tena made her debut as Nymphadora Tonks in THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX and has since reprised her roles for the successful franchise. The actress and lead singer for Molotov Jukebox talked to CineMovie from London and admitted she was a little hungover from the previous night's London premiere of the new Harry Potter movie.
Natalia gives us the scoop from inside the London premiere and party. "It was so much fun," proclaimed the actress. After the London premiere screening at Leicester Square, the party moved to a beautiful free mason house where "ridiculous" canopies were set up with "so much food" and champagne she over indulged in. Having her five band members with her made the event even more special. "It was absolutely beautiful," she remarked.
Natalia's six piece band Molotov Jukebox was a cast and crew favorite when they played the final wrap party for Part 2 of DEATHLY HALLOWS this past summer with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. The accordian-playing Natalia received tickets for her band mates to attend the London premiere after gaining fans from the wrap party. On their Facebook page, the London-based band describes themselves as a "gypsy-pop band" with strong soul and ska influences. Their first single Laid To Rest went on sale November 15. The single was recorded at West London's legendary Metropolis studios where Michael Jackson and The Clash recorded their albums.
Born to Spanish parents in England, the bilingual actress isn't too melancholy about the end of the Harry Potter movie series. Instead she describes the whole event as "brilliant" that the film will carry on even if the making of portion is done with. The last two films, she admits, are very sad in that characters die and it's the darkest of the franchise. "It's crap," she says.
The actress who made her acting debut in About A Boy starring Hugh Grant, fondly recalls the best moments during the production. She had "fun" for the most part but the best scene was the day they shot the outdoor wedding scene. She describes the day as sunny which is rare for the English countryside. In between takes, her on-screen husband David Thewlis who she calls the "funniest man" and the extras chatted and laughed together. She also played her accordion on set to pass the time.
While the production phase for the Harry Potter movie has ended, the party will continue next year when the last of the Harry Potter movies celebrates it's final release which will unite Natalia with the cast and crew during the premiere.
Natalia plans on touring to promote her single and can be seen on screen alongside Robert Pattinson, Christina Ricci and Uma Thurman in Bel Ami next year.
