Is it bad for me to speak tex spanish to people from Mexico? im chicano i told them se me cayo los capsules and traeme la escoba y mopeador and mi braces
Never say that it is bad. Being able to speak Tex-Mex is an honor more than anything. It is your dialect of Spanish and you should be proud to be able to speak it. However, it is a dialect and it can cause restrictive boundaries when you try to communicate with people that are not familiar with it. It is easy for a person to talk to someone that speaks similar to them, but when you encounter a different dialect you are encountering a new language sometimes. Tex-Mex is difficult for Mexicans in Mexico to understand because it incorporates many aspects of the English language that are not familiar to Mexicans since they may not necessarily speak English. For instance, 'mopeador' is a 'mop', but the word for 'mop' in Spanish is 'trapeador'. Do you understand how little changes can cause a confusion? Having distinctions like this make Mexicans look down at dialects surrounding them because they simply do not understand, and in the Mexican culture something unknown is mostly weird and unacceptable. I grew up in California and speaking Spanglish is extremely common, but when you go to Mexico or speak to a native Mexican in Spanglish may cause confusion. I remember I once said to my grandma, "estoy stuck en el freeway y no voy a llegar a ver a Juan graduarse". I used these words instead of 'estancado, autopista, recibirse'. Why? Because it was my natural dialect. So again, speaking Tex-Mex to a Mexican isn't bad but it may just cause confusion.
