Daniels Band
When hemorrhoids become enlarged and the blood vessels in the anal region bulge, most people often times come to a decision to have them removed to immediately get rid of the problem.
One of the most common procedures done to remove hemorrhoids is rubber band litigation. It is otherwise known as hemorrhoids banding, the banding stops the blood circulation and will therefore cause them to shrink and eventually fall off. It usually takes about a week or two for this to happen. However, not all hemorrhoids can be removed using this procedure. This method is usually done to those that are painful and swelling. This is usually done to remove the hemorrhoids that are severely swelling or painful, or those that have blood clots in them and also those that protrude through the rectum. Although, this is not recommended for those that protrude and remains outside the anus.
Before the procedure is done, a licensed physician will conduct a physical exam, a rectal exam and sigmoidoscopy or anoscopy. This is done to check the inside of the rectum, anus and the lower intestine. This procedure does not commonly require anesthesia, but in some case local anesthesia is used. This procedure is done by inserting an anoscope, an instrument with lens and light through an anus. Usually, the doctor has an assistant to help hold the instrument in place. Then, a banding tool is used by the doctor to place and tie a rubber band around the hemorrhoid. During and after the procedure, one will feel discomfort but usually not severe pain. This is commonly an outpatient case, one can go home immediately after. It is important to see the doctor for a check up three to four weeks after the healing process.
