Fall Love
For those who own several canaries in an aviary or a flight cage, it is no surprise that they are often curious to find out when and if ever their canaries fall in love. Nothing is more joyous than to see a pair of canaries finding happiness in each other company and their decision to have a baby. However, like people, there has to be a romantic moment or a romantic space where the magic will occur. For canaries, it may not be a grand ball room or a night out in the city, but they have requirements too. If you can provide the environment, it will happen.
For example, canaries are very photo-sensitive. They can sense the temperature zones of the earth as well as the seasons. They have a few requirements that will make them feel it is time to fall in love. A temperate environment is one of the requirements. In other words, you cannot just force the canaries to get together. A warm environment, however; does affect the way that the canaries will look at each other.
As a matter of fact, if you want to get a better chance for them to fall in love, make sure that you can gradually increase their exposure to light three months before you wish they can breed, or in other words, fall in love. If they get nine hours of daylight for a month, then increase the day of sunlight by every fifteen minutes increments each week. To them, nine hours a day is the amount of daylight they get in the winter. They do not like the winter, unlike people, who sometimes like to cuddle and drink hot chocolate. Rather, they are more like the summer love type of birds.
Actually do not forget prior to breeding, the canaries need to have plenty of exercise. This involves more flying time than usual and they need an environment in which they can fly back and forth. Flight cages or breeder cages are great for this. If they do not get enough exercise, it might hurt the female bird once they hatch the eggs.
In about a month later, the hours of daylight increase to ten, now they are starting to think it is time to breed. It is not a good idea to rush this process. They will now begin to fall in love and start to breed. The female bird will be in constant motion while the male bird will sing heartily.
Now by eleven hours, the female bird will begin to gather nesting material everywhere. This is a good time to provide materials for them to begin nesting. The babies will soon arrive and they have to make a big preparation for it. Although this activity does not sound as romantic at all, the birds are happily working on getting their babies ready. This is a quite exciting process to see when it will happen.
After daylight hours hit twelve, the clock strikes at the right time for the babies to arrive. While some canaries require a bit more time, this is the generally timeline in which they will hatch and rear babies. Voila! They did it. Of course they did not just do it without your help.
