For me it depends if I'm in a 60's sock hop or 60's soul kind of mood, otherwise for music creativity purposes, I'd have to agree with Migh, Coil's version is the best cover. However Soft Cell's version isn't too bad if someone's in light or "easy listening"? mood, but just the term easy listening sounds & seems so cheesy-ick! The pussyc**t diaperdolls seems so crappy a cover reminds me of this song on video networks & radio stations in general--
I loved that video/photo footage someone put together for the shorter version of the original. It reminds me of the video Sonic Youth did for this Power Station song they did a cover of as their project band with Mike Watt from Minutemen, Firehose & Stooges, called Ciccone Youth--
Before I forget that dita von teese who was in that video of that other band's remake of "Tainted Love" is exactly the kind of skank I ended up enjoying dumping some years back. Sometimes I feel justified in doing things like that to people who deserve it, especially when they never change.
