It is not about what is right
Evolution, in a way or two, had dictated that this living world is a kingdom of right-handed individuals. Right-handed individuals, in terms of statistics, greatly outnumbered left-handed individuals. Nonetheless, in terms of talents or skills, it is not a 'do not let the right hand know what the left hand is doing' rule of thumb thing. In the music industry, because of their number, left-hand musicians became instant celebrities because of they outclassed right-handed musicians. Here are some noted guitarist that worked their way to fame and recognition with their talented left hand.
One of the Chief Beatle: Paul McCartney
Sir Paul McCartney will always be immortalized by being one of the members of the famous and most-influential band until today-the Beatles. As one of the Fab Four, he was the other half of the most successful musical tandem of all-time, the 'Lennon-McCartney' duo (the other half was the late John Lennon who was also a Beatle himself). Paul McCartney was not just a talented guitarist or bassist for the Beatles, but in the course of his career, he was able to display awesome musical prowess in other musical instrument like the piano. Actually, there is another member of the Beatles that is also a lefty and he is none other than the drummer Richard 'Ringo' Starr.
Black is Black: Jimi Hendrix
Another proof of the universality of music was its transcendence beyond race or color. Though, not the first amongst African-American heritage that played the music, the late Jimi Hendrix proved that rock and roll is for everybody, whether an individual is black and left-handed. Hendrix unique style in playing the electric guitar had been an inspiration for others to also try and venture the music industry. According to some accounts, this left-handed guitarist played jazz and blues during the onset of his career. Even another guitar legend, Carlos Santana, was amazed of Hendrix musical style and asserted that it might be partly influenced by Hendrix's Native American lineage.
No Apologies at all For Kurt Cobain
During the 1990's, the world was shocked and saddened by death of the Nirvana's front man Kurt Cobain. The late Cobain and his band were responsible for the musical movement called the 'grunge' during the said decade. Not that he was also a lefty guitarist, his fame and recognition was very prominent in his musical composition and distinctive style. Considered one of the greatest shows on earth, the Nirvana's MTV Unplugged presentation had been a clear proof of Cobain's pure talent sans loud sound distortions and amplifiers.
With these talented guitarists, it is therefore proven that being a left-handed individual is not a hindrance to play or create great music. Music is definitely the universal language of the soul and one of the best expressions of the oneself as well.
