The Winter Park Jazz Festival is a celebration of music, mountain and fun held in downtown Winter Park, Colorado. The jazz fest is a two day festival with some of the biggest names in jazz headlining the event. Usually held in the middle of July the WP jazz festival can boast great weather in a fantastic venue.
The Winter Park Jazz Fest has been a Colorado Rocky Mountain tradition for over twenty years with some of the biggest names in jazz. The Jazz Fest is one of the longest-standing music festivals in Colorado, starting over 20 years ago. The tradition continues, and every year the Winter Park Jazz Festival promises once and again to be a highlight of the summer in Winter Park. Held at the new outdoor concert venue in Hideaway Park, the festival is full of great national and regional acts, a food and beer garden and merchandise vendors.
In past years the jazz artist lineup has included Boney James, Sax for Stax, Hazel Miller, Dotsero, War, The Rippingtons, Warren Hill, Rickie Lee Jones, Herbie Mann, Zachary Richard, Dr. John and John Lee Hooker. Truly some of the biggest names in the business. It is always a lineup not to be missed and makes for a great weekend of jazz in the Colorado high country.
The venue has moved from Winter Park Resort into the town of Winter Park at the Hideaway Park amphitheater. A great placed to hear and see music with grass and chair seating. There is a beer garden and food and merchandise vendors with a complete festival atmosphere. The last few years there has been an after show party up at the Winter Park Resort Base that goes late into Saturday night. The party like atmosphere at the after party show has been fantastic.
The weather in mid-July in the Colorado Rocky mountains is usually perfect. The day time temperatures get into the 70's and the night temperatures dip into the high 40's. So it is a T-shirt and shorts in the day and sweatshirt and jacket at night. Perfect temperatures for listening to some great jazz under the Rocky Mountains.
The Winter Park Jazz Fest is the premier jazz festival in the Rocky Mountain region and is a can't miss show for all jazz lovers. With a perfect setting, A-list talent and high in the Colorado mountains the WP jazz fest is a music fest that should be sticking around for a long time.
