The RX-V667 receiver sounds absolutely fantastic! The sound quality is very crisp and clear compared to most receivers on the market. With five HDMI inputs in the back and one in the front, you will not find yourself searching for an available input.
This receiver with its sleek black design makes any home entertainment system stand out. The price in the $400 to $500 range is what you would spend on a good system. If you are buying your home entertainment system piece by piece, then this is definitely a good starting point. The LCD on the front panel is very bright and descriptive. The remote is very easy to navigate that even a child can use it.
The compatible YDS12 IPOD dock works great with the RX-V667 but is sold separately. This receiver I hooked it up to a 3D TV, a Nintendo Wii (component), my son's X-box 360 (HDMI), RCN cable (HDMI), my Yamaha YDS-12 iPod dock and 3D Blu-ray player (HDMI). It was simple to install and I still had plenty of HDMI inputs available. The auto setup was just as simple.
The con was there was no printed manual included, all instructions were located on a CD in a PDF file. It is definitely a must to print out the manual before using. If not you will find yourself fumbling to configure the system. For example, there are some tricky options like pressing 2 buttons on the remote at the simultaneously to change some of the default settings. It also would've been nice to have a built-in PC-VGA input. The firmware update (version 2.05) eliminated any issues for 3D compatibility.
But all in all if you're looking for high fidelity sound that is a well built receiver and easy on the pockets, then the Yamaha RX-V667 is for you.
