What is the best way to react to people constantly getting your name wrong?
My name is Jadea - pronounced Jade-a or Jay-da.
Due to the spelling I tend to get called Jad-e-a or more bizarrely Jay-dee. I'm not quite sure what's so complicated about my name, it's just a variation on Jade, which is a common enough name.
Getting it wrong the first few times or slipping up is fair enough, the spelling may confuse some, but it's when there are people who CONSTANTLY get it wrong even after I correct them. I find it really disrespectful, like they can't be bothered to learn my name or listen when I correct them.
Other than constantly reminding them is there any other way to react to this? I don't want to be rude, but maybe there's a better way than just saying 'It's Jadea' every five minutes -_-
Just correct them every time, when they say Jadia you say "It's Jadea". Every single time. It is not rude to help someone pronounce your name correctly - it is rude of them to knowingly continue to call you by the wrong name. Whether they are being antagonistic or thoughtless is irrelevant. Neither reason for calling you by the wrong name is acceptable etiquette.
