Stream Tapes n Tapes Walk it Off Now!

Tapes n Tapes Walk It Off isn't due for another couple dayss (April 8th, to be preceise) but you can hear it in its entirety on the mtvU website as of today. The band posted an alert in their myspace blog and I'm listening to it as I write this post, because

wanna see 'em live? THere are a lot of really good shows coming up but if you let tapes n tapes cruise through the LA area WITHOUT sinking your teeth into one of their thighs you'll regret it forever. The band is scheduled to appear on Conan O'Brien on April 9th, after which they head off on tour supported by Austin's White Denim. The tour won't stop in L.A. for a month after that, till they're at the Troubadour on May 8th and 9th.

Think you can wait that long??? At least Walk It Off comes out on April 8th. and like I said, you can listen to it NOW by clicking HERE.

Album Review: Tapes 'n Tapes - Walk It Off

The sophomore release of Minneapolis quartet Tapes 'n Tapes isn't a departure from the style established in 2006 by their debut release, The Loon. Apart from the not-so-subtle similarities in the cover art, the two releases are musically quite akin. Actually, it seems like the foursome intended Walk It Off to be more than just a second album, but a more relaxed continuation of its angsty and neurotic (and slightly Violent Femmes-esque) predecessor. Unfortunately, only the seasoned Tapes 'n Tapes listener will be able to fully appreciate (or despise) what the band has done with the upcoming release. The songs are crisp and catchy, with drums so clean they almost sound electronic. Walk It Off gallops ever-so-steadily from the first beat to the last, and when it's over, the absence of sound is discomforting.
