What is the best type of electric guitar pick-up for an Epiphone Les Paul Special II?
I just got an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, but I feel like something just isn't right. I have the feeling that because of the pick-ups the noise is too harsh and you can barely even hear anything no matter what I try. I've tried messing with my amp, but that doesn't work. Any tips?

I am fond of Seymour Duncan pickups. He takes pickups seriously. He puts out some amazing pickups.
However, before you lay out the money for new pickups, you should consider your amp. Don't know what you are using, but the amp is very important in your overall sound. If you play a great guitar through a lousy amp, it sounds lousy. If you play a mediocre guitar through a great amp it sound pretty decent. The point is, that if you have a lousy amp, adding new pickups to your guitar will have little or no effect on the sound.
If on the other hand, you already have a great amp, spring for some SDs.
