Why do people think that the Monkees didnt play their own instruments.?
I just want to know why everyone think's that. Where did you hear it from? They did play their own instruments and they did write their own songs and they did sing their own songs. At the beginning of their career they werent allowed to play their own instruments because Don Krisner had all creative control, and he didnt want to mess up his name. But they broke away from all of that and created their first studio album were they had all control, Headquarters. So that just leave's 2 album's where they didnt play all of the instrument's on. But 9 that they did. I just wish everyone knew that before they say " The Monkees didnt even play their own instruments". What are your thought's on this?
I guess people know they didn't actually play on their first two albums (not that they couldn't!) so they took that fact and ran with it. Most ppl don't find out enough about them before they trash them. :-/
