I am sure there are female equivalents, but I am referring to the upbringing and mentality of men who act like this:
Men who are married, and automatically assume all women want them, and are only to be spoken to in sexual way, even at work.
Men who grab their private parts in front of women to indicate being attracted to them.
Men who scream a woman down when she ignores this behavior and grow irate at the fact that she does not find this acceptable.
Yes, I have dealt with men like this. Quite a few. They give regular, nice men a horrible reputation.
Usually, these men have been raised to believe that they are special, and better than everyone else, or they feel inadequate, and need to convince themselves that they are sexually powerful by acting in this way.
If you encounter men like this, no not encourage them in any way. Ignore them, or tell them to stop it. If they don't, go to your boss (if it's someone you work with) or go to the police. If you let it go on, the behaviour will be harder to stop.
Same goes for men who are in this position. I've actually met a few women who behave like this towards men. People treat it like a joke, as they can't imagine a man recieving sexual attention which is unwanted, but the fact of the matter is, men can also be sexually abused in this manner, and it happens often. Don't feel like you can't report it because she is a woman and you are a man. Your claims of sexual harassment should be taken just as seriously as those of a woman.
