Between early 1927 and late 1929, Bix Beiderbecke was the cornetist of Paul Whiteman & His Orchestra. This would be the golden age of Paul Whiteman, when he had an immense popularity worldwide.
On October 7, 1928, Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra gave a concert in Carnegie Hall. That was the beginning of the Fall 1928 Concert Tour. The orchestra presented 61 concerts in 62 days. They were in 27 states and in Canada. Bix had a breakdown on November 30, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. The band went on, without Bix, on the tour. This shows that Paul Whiteman's tours included also Canada.
There are also Canadian pressings of U.S. hot jazz recordings of this period of time still in existence. Victor Canada has a so called characteristic record label which we collectors call "bat wing". Here is one:
This Canadian Victor shows that hot jazz was also sold in Canada. I have seen the Canadian Victor "I'll Be A Friend With Pleasure" by "Bix Beiderbecke & His Orchestra" from 1930 several times although this record is usually rare because it was pressed during the first year of the Great Depression. This shows that Canadians bought American hot jazz records even during tough times which proves that American hot jazz was very popular in Canada.

Just found out that Whiteman Orchestra toured in Canada also in 1924.
Nevertheless, the music of Paul Whiteman in 1924 can't be considered as jazz or as jazz relevant.
