Go Big Or Go Home!
When designing a banner, you have to keep in mind that the design as a whole should be clear, concise and provide enough information in the least amount of words as possible. With that, you rely on pictures and color to create excitement. If you have a picture, even with the best colors, that is small, uneventful and not very noticeable, you will more than likely not get the return you are looking for. For example, if I own a coffee shop and my promotion is for buying a cup of coffee and getting a donut free, I will want to create images of a coffee and a donut. Being the coffee is a dark substance, I will want a brighter color to contrast for the icing on the donut. A donut with pink icing and sprinkles might be the choice or maybe even create a donut that has yellow icing. This not only brings color that pulls the eye in, it also allows the focus to be on the donut, which is the item that is being received for free.
Do Not Send the Wrong Message with Color
If you are not familiar with the language colors speak, it is important to learn them. Most people know that green represents the earth and nature but they do not know that it also represents freshness and when coupled with a color such as a lime green and orange it creates a fruity overtone.
