Pointer Sisters
I don't know why but I feel compelled to talk about my first Ouija board experience. Well, it's far from what most people would consider to be scary but it's definitely freaky. It was freaky enough that I almost hit my friend, Josh, in the mouth after the session was over.
I wish I could say that it all happened on a chilly night when the winds howled while three teenage boys crouched in a candle lit room while staring at an old board. Unfortunately, nothing of that sort happened.
My other friend, Gabo, is a hobbyist and collecting and playing board games is one of her passions. Just last weekend, hr bought a new Ouija board at the mall and wanted to try it out right away. When he got home, he couldn't find anyone brave enough to try playing it with him. He lives with his three sister and his parents. His sisters would usually scream in fear when there's thunder and lightning so you wouldn't expect them to try it out, not even get near it, while his parents are devout Catholics.
Gabo decided to come to our place and brought the board with him. Josh who lived next to us saw him coming over became interested with that new item he's carrying and decided to hang out with us. They went straight to my room and opened the box.
So there we were, three bench warmers for our high school's basketball team, in the well lit floor of my room staring at the newly bought board and getting ready to play. After Gabo read the instructions (he's the only one among the three of us that has the patience to do that), he explained to us how to use the Ouija board. He needed a volunteer and Josh backed out instantly leaving me in the open.
I didn't have much of a choice so I sat on the floor and waited for more instructions. While Josh watched us, Gabo asked me to touch the pointer. I did as asked and we started calling for spirits. For the longest time, I thought that this was a waste of time. We couldn't contact anyone and I'm getting cramped with my seating position.
Just as I was about to give up on the spirits, we got an answer. I looked at Gabo who looked just as surprised at me. I thought for a minute that he was controlling the pointer but it seems that he's thinking the same thing. Apparently, none of us was manipulation the board nor the answers.
We decided to continue and started asking more questions. The spirit we were talking to was Merl. He was 35 when he got into a car accident fifteen years ago. Just before that fateful day, he was about to get married with his fiancee. He never knew what happened to her after the accident. He did know that she was crying a lot at the hospital when he was announced dead but don't recall anything about her after that.
Then we did the unthinkable. We asked Merl if he really was in the room with us. We asked for a sign to prove that he was. Silence came after the query. You could literally hear everyone's breathing. I already wanted to end the session at this time but at the same time, I wanted to find out if Merl was real.
Then it happened. The lights went out. I freaked out and jumped from where I was seated to the bed. Why I jumped on the bed, I can't explain but while I was shivering, I could hear someone laughing. Nope, it wasn't an evil laugh. It was the kind of laughter you would hear when one successfully pulled a prank on you.
I got out of the bed and looked for the light switch. I saw both Gabo and Josh rolling on my bedroom floor laughing. Apparently, Josh came up with this plan as they were walking to my place. They made the whole thing up and I was a victim of a stupid prank. The most irritating thing is that I shrieked like a girl when the lights went out. I wanted to hit both of them on the mouth out of embarrassment.
From that day on, I decided to never play another Ouija Board again. That was one freaky and embarrassing experience and I want to make sure that it would be the last!
