Rare Japanese
I live in Japan and it is very rare to see an American car, 99%Japanese cars?
In South Korea I didn`t see a Japanese or american car 99% Korean cars. So my question is , why don`t americans support the products made in our own country? I see Japanese and Korean cars in america. Living in Japan I go out of my way to but american products ,trying to support my country.
I meant to buy american products. And american cars are every bit as good as japanese cars if not better. try one you may like it
American cars are too big for Japan and South Korea. They are made for urban commuting, not city driving, I think. Gas is very expensive in South Korea and the traffic conditions are atrocious. People have to park their cars on the sidewalks, sometimes, and they sometimes even drive them on the sidewalks. Everything is incredibly packed and busy and moving...cars have to be nimble.
Even so, the Koreans keep many American cars out by government intervention. The USA has recently agreed to a FTA with South Korea that it can't ask for renegotiation of without damage to its reputation.
I think that the Koreans could allow unrestricted access to SK's auto market and both the Koreans and the Americans would be surprised at how few of Detroit's giants got sold here (I am in South Korea). In any case, if SK relents to an American request to renegotiate the FTA, the Koreans would have every right to consider it a big favor they were granting to the Americans, and demand compensation above and beyond the compensation they would be entitled to for opening up their car market. It would be a mistake for the USA to do that, I think.
SOME American cars are as good as Japanese cars, now, according to various auto surveys.
