Everyone in the Greater Boston area as well as in Massachusetts is aware of the New England Patriots Football team. It is part of the Eastern Division, AFC in the NFL. Originally the team's name was the Boston Patriots. People who support this team are proud to wear the New England Patriots jerseys.
This team is well known throughout the nation, winning the Super Bowls XX, XXXI, XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX. They have a record of a longest winning streak ever recorded in NFL history. In attending the games fans are intrigued by the fact that men, dressed as minutemen, are seen at the back of each end zone. When a goal is scored these men shoot blanks from flintlock muskets, adding more excitement to the shouts and cheers from the crowd. This show of enthusiasm is looked forward to by those attending the game and they look forward to hearing the blast of muskets as well as seeing the winning goal.
Colors of their jerseys have changed over the years. From 1961 to 1995 the home jerseys were white with blue stripes on the sleeves. From 1996 to 2001 they were bright blue with white letters and red trim. In 2002 the current jersey, dark blue with red piping was introduced with a silver jersey as an alternate. This last model is available to the public and is worn by many young people in their daily lives.
Collectors have been very enthusiastic about obtaining the jerseys of previous years with those having any players signatures being very valuable. Many of the hard and true team fans purchase the new jerseys to wear at the games. Often one will see a complete block of color where these people are seated.
Between innings the Patriot Cheerleaders can be seen performing for the crowds. Their costumes, of course, reflect the current colors of the team's jerseys. At the current time there are 14 former team player and one contributor in the Patriot's Hall of Fame. The colorful jerseys of these players are also preserved for future generations to enjoy. The Pro Football Hall of fame also has the names of four former players on their roster.
When one wishes to indicate their enthusiasm for a group of athletes who play game after game, in all kinds of weather, one way is to wear the team's colors. If, in addition one can obtain a signature or two it makes the jersey something to remind one of the courage of these men who play in all sorts of weather to entertain the fans as well as enjoy the sport.
