Well, we all know that the grass is greener on the other side supposedly. And, perhaps I know that better than anybody. You see, I can remember as a track star in college, everyone wished they could be me, and run as fast as I did and win all the races, I ran the mile. They had never considered all the sacrifices I had to make, my strict diet, the absolute incredible workouts and training that nearly killed me, or the fact that I never went to parties or drank alcohol, literally zero-social life, and keeping a girlfriend wasn't easy with my workout schedule, plus school work, and I still had to make a living.
No, but they indicated they wanted to trade places with me. Ha ha, fat chance - I liked to think, knowing they wouldn't have the personal strength or character to last a day in my racing spikes. Nevertheless, that's what they'd wished for, and I suppose some of them might have been able to pull it off, but not for the number of years I did.
Interestingly enough at the time, I had won so many races I didn't care as much about winning anymore. In fact, I expected to win every race, and I had beat myself to hell in training to do it, seriously, you wouldn't believe it if I told you, pain, oh please, you don't know what pain is. I would've loved to skip that training, but it became running and winning became who I was.
Not long ago, I was reminded of all this when I was talking to a creative genius claims of mine who told me sometimes he wished he could just be like a regular person.
That's pretty amazing when you think about it, and since I run a think tank, I am constantly meeting people who would do anything to boost their IQ levels and become geniuses. And here was a superstar of human intellect who wanted to be normal. Isn't that interesting? So, what's the moral of the story you ask? Well, it's pretty simple;
Just be happy with who you are.
Now then, my acquaintance said he just wanted to be normal and like a regular person, but what is a normal person? So I stated; "Why is that? Oh, by the way, what on Earth is normal? That is an interesting topic, how might you define that?"
The reality is, that his mind is going a mile a minute, and constantly thinking up new concepts, so it is hard for him to get very interested in what his friends are talking about. Nevertheless, I told him; "Why? Most people just talk about the weather and silly stuff anyway? Why dummy yourself down?"
I guess that it just goes to show you, that the grass isn't always greener on the other side and even a superstar of humanity with high IQ and creative genius level thought wants to be normal, while all the other people wish they had his intellect, they wish they were geniuses. Maybe we should all be careful what we wish for, and I'll leave you with that thought. Think on it.
