I am having low grade fever since 45 days when my gallbladder was removed through surgery? What should I do?
Hi, I am male and my age is 36 years. My gallbladder was removed due to stones last month through surgery, during the surgery the doctors discovered that my pancreas was also infected, however the pancreas was not operated, they just gave me medicines. My diabetics is under control. But I am continuously having fever from 98 to 101 since after the surgery. Doctors says there is nothing to worry about the fever. But I am conscious as it has been 45 days and I am feeling weakness.
A fever for this long is not right, and could well imply a low-grade infection in the liver, pancreas or around the site of the operation. However, this may be something that just has to run its course, and that no further action is needed. It does, however, need monitoring, and I would suggest that you continue to see your doctor on a regular basis, and that you have on-going, regular, blood tests to check the state of the liver and pancreas, and to make sure that everything is settling down.
On a more practical note, it may be helpful to take some natural medicines yourself - large doses of vitamin C and Echinacea can help the immune system generally, but I would suggest a more specific herbal concoction, containing herbs such as Baptisia, Silybum, Hydrastis, and perhaps a few others, may be more specific for the liver. If it's something you would like to try, and have difficulty getting hold of these, give me a call.
Make sure that you also drink plenty of fluids, and perhaps a general multi-vitamin can also help your general weakness, but keep going to the doctors until it is sorted out. Best Wishes.
