One of the biggest mistakes beginning online marketers make is to QUIT too soon. I see this happening time and time again.
I'm reminded of a movie I saw years ago. It was about miners in California prospecting a claim. They dug and dug back into the mountain without seeing a trace of gold. Finally, out of frustration, they sold the claim.
The new owners began digging where the former owners left off. Within the day the new owners struck a rich vein of gold!
Internet marketing often works the same way. None of this stuff is quick or easy. There is a steep learning curve. Even after the curve, patience is still the best trait a marketer can posses.
Brand new marketers are most susceptible to quitting too soon. However, it's something even seasoned marketers must be aware of. There are no hard and fast rules for this. Each project and each person has a unique timetable for success.
Too many times I see new marketers go full speed ahead with an idea...for a few days or even weeks. But then the idea begins loosing its luster when no results are seen. Frustration sets in.
The newbie marketer either dumps that project and begins the same process with another idea or they simply quit. They often believe that Internet marketing is simply "not their thing".
Although the saying "fail fast" is the way to eventually find success, you have to be VERY careful about "failing" TOO fast. No one can tell you when it's time to drop a failed project. Your recognition of that moment is part of the art of entrepreneurship.
I wish I had a magic formula that could tell you when to drop a project and when to continue on with it. But I do not.
Just be aware that quitting too soon is a problem you may be vulnerable to. Your "Mother Load" could be just around the corner!
