In today's economy it's crucially important to get the most you can for your purchasing dollar. So there's no rational reason to over pay for Travellin Band when there are large numbers of them for sale on eBay. Plus, eBay is one of the leading and most trustworthy online shopping sites in the modern world. This site is sanctioned by eBay to help you find the Travellin Band you are shopping for and show them to you. If you don't see the Travellin Band you are hunting for below. Use the search feature on the right to find the style you want.
So, you've hit the road with your new van, but you're going to have to cope with a bit of city traffic before you hit the open highway. No worries, city traffic is fairly forgiving of a car towing a caravan, and more importantly, very wary. Just be glad that you checked that ALL your lights were working before you left.
- A good idea after you've left the city is to pull in to the first rest area you come to, or at least after an hour of travelling, 'boil the billy' and relax for half an hour. You can also check that everything is still in place. From then on, I'd suggest a stop every 2 or 3 hours, and I'm a great believer in the 'Power Nap' if you're on a long trip. 15 minutes of shut-eye really works for me
- Back on the road again and you will need to experiment a bit with your optimum travelling speed. Every rig will be a little different in this respect, and you will find that yours has a speed that just seems to suit, the motor's doing it easy, and your car seems to be looking over its shoulder to see what's pushing it along. I would bet that your optimum speed would be between 95 to 100 Km/Hour, but do take the trouble to check it out because it will make a huge difference to your fuel economy.
- The wider wheel base of the van is crucial, so just keep a little closer to the centre line until oncoming traffic dictates that you have to move over. Be aware that the shoulders of a lot of sealed roads can be broken, with potholes and sharp edges that can cause serious trouble with your van's tyres. Then, if you've got to move over, move far enough over to get those 'at risk' wheels past the broken edges and onto the smoother verge, keeping the other side on the bitumen.
- B doubles can be scary when you see them at first, either in front and oncoming, or in your rear vision and overtaking. They are usually travelling on the maximum and can create a lot of turbulence when passing, but they're no problem if you move over as far as you safely can.
- If you're being overtaken by a truck, try to maintain your speed (important) until you can move over safely, then indicate with two indicator flashes, slow your speed and move over, the truckie will love you, and after he's passed you he will probably give you two flashes one way then two more the other way. His way of saying "Thanks Mate".
- Travelling in Company with a friend in another van, please keep a good distance between you.and you also need to have some means of communication such as a CB Radio.
- Citizen's Band Radios these days they are mostly UHF with a fairly limited range, but setting them up and operating them correctly could save you a lot of grief. Caravanners use Ch18 for inter-communicating, Truckies use Ch40 and a lot of bad language, but if you are travelling in company I'd suggest both getting onto Ch15. Also be aware that there are ways of extending your coverage, so a close study of the Operator's Manual is essential.
- Telephone Coverage. You will need to get a coverage map from your Provider, and then do everything possible to achieve that coverage such as, Hands Free, and High Gain External Antenna.
- OK! You've had enough for the day, it's about 4.00 in the afternoon, the map shows a Rest Area about 15 Km ahead, and that's where you're going to stop for the night. When you get there you find that it's deserted, and your van is looking so alone and vulnerable.
- Oh Dear, what'll we do? Well I'll tell you what I'd do. I'd pick out the best spot away from overhanging trees and move in. There's no need to uncouple, but put the Jockey wheel down and release the tension of the Level Ride Bars. You will not have long to wait before other passing vans see you there and decide that they'll join you. Some of the best Parties we've ever had was after a half a dozen vans had pulled in, a BIG bonfire was lit, and anyone who wanted to, joined in, BYO.
- Reversing causes more arguments between couples than anything else. But there is a simple guide to help you. Grip the steering wheel at the bottom with one hand, then if you want the rear of the van to move to the left, you move that hand to the left. When the van responds and is heading to the left, move the bottom of the steering wheel to the right so that your car tracks after the van, then a bit more to the right to straighten up, and return to centre when car and van are in line. A good place to practise is on a deserted rest area, and practise really helps./li>
- Setting up a Camp for an extended stay after reversing into the right spot.
- Pull the manual van brakes on.
- Put chocks in front and rear of wheels.
- Wind the Jockey Wheel down and release the Level Ride Bars. Stow them out of sight.
- Disconnect all cables, chains, unhook and move the car.
- Connect all hoses and power cables.
- Level the van using the Jockey wheel, and wind down the struts.
- Roll out the awning using guy ropes and pegs at each end, even if fitting annexe walls.
OK, you've done well, so now go inside and have a cold one.
