Forming a blues band and need ideas!?
I am getting a blues band together in my area, which is the Virginia Beach area and not so well-rounded. These people mostly like beach music and classic rock. I want to sing the blues. I have a blues-y voice and my lead guitar is awesome with blues style music. I don't want to sell out and play what every other band is playing. Does anyone have suggestions for a way to market the blues to people who aren't used to the style? Also, any CATCHY band name ideas would be fantastic, as I don't want to name the band from me, the singer. Not like "Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble", but something that definitely says blues. I also don't want blah, blah, blah blues band. Any help or ideas would be so appreciated.
Good for you! You should get into listening to the vast supply of all blues. Stay away from obvious pop blues titles. If you have creative interpretive sound arranging talent, then the popular can be made into a interesting version. I think the general audience relates to that in most cases.
